Brazilian Jiu jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting with the goal of gaining a dominant position and using joint-locks and chokeholds to force an opponent to submit.

Over the years it has been continually updated and enhanced so whilst it is rich in tradition, it is a flexible and effective martial art relevant to modern times and situations. The study of Jujitsu gives practitioners new and impressive skills as well as accomplishing gratifying personal achievements.

Martial arts is a way of life, where dedication, respect and open mindedness are essential. Dedication includes consistency in the way one trains, how well one takes care of his/her health in order to stay active, and how positively one remains emotionally. One should also respect the self, others, and other styles of martial arts. Open mindedness reflects an attitude of maturity, since the person willing to admit he/she does not know it all is humble, allowing more space for growth and fulfillment in his/her life.
